Understanding Katherine's Vision

Designing a website for a luxury spa business is more than just creating a digital presence - it's about capturing the essence of luxury, exclusivity, and personalised service that Katherine's business offers.

The Design Process

The first step in the design process was understanding Katherine's vision. Katherine, the owner - wanted a website that showcased the bespoke, personalised, luxurious experience provided to her clients.

Concept Development

Katherine and I worked closely together during our initial meetings to get a strong understanding of the user experience for the site. We looked at various high-end brands, both inside and outside the spa industry to get a feel for what a luxury website should look and feel like.

The goal was to create a clean, elegant design with high-quality visuals, subtle animations to lift the website without being over-powering, and develop a minimalist approach.

Collaboration and Feedback

Throughout the design and development process, my goal was to continue to work with Katherine to ensure her vision was met. We had regular check-ins where I would present my progress, gather her feedback, and make adjustments.

We went through several iterations, eventually working closely with the lovely folks at Page Setup Design to fine tune the design until it perfectly captured the luxurious, personalised vibe Katherine was looking for.

Getting to work with professional designers, was a valuable experience that allowed me to gain an insight into how to elevate a websites design to that next level.

Technologies

For this project, I chose to build the site using Next.js, React, TailwindCSS, and host it on Vercel. These are technologies I'm familiar with and they allowed me to quickly prototype designs and share concepts with Katherine, making collaboration a central part of the development process.

The power of the Next.js framework enabled me to optimize performance and SEO, while Vercel's preview deployments made it easy to showcase progress and gather feedback throughout the project.

The Final Result

Creating this website was such a rewarding experience, and it was a pleasure to work closely with Katherine to bring her vision to life. The project reinforced the importance of collaboration and communication throughout the development process.
